Dear Richard, Each year as the cold weather approaches, I always cast my thoughts to the countless cats who live outdoors. And though this may sound strange, I feel thankful. I feel thankful that these feral cats are outdoors rather than in animal shelters where they will face certain death... thankful that Alley Cat Allies can provide the resources and information to help people care for the colonies that they love... and thankful that our educational campaigns are teaching citizens across the nation about the best way to care for feral cats this winter. Yet as winter approaches, I am also terrified... that well meaning citizens will take cats to animal pounds, hoping to get them out of the cold, and that cats will be killed. That’s why Alley Cat Allies’ work is so important. We must continue educating people about the best ways to care for feral cats—methods that don’t include taking the cats to the shelter. And we must act fast in order to save the thousands of cats who will be killed in shelters this winter—and year round. With your support, Alley Cat Allies will do just that. We will educate citizens about the flawed policies of the animal shelter system and will dispel misconceptions that lead to these poor policies. But we need your help to do it. Please give an Emergency Winter Donation today. Your gift can save cats' lives all over the country—this winter and for lifetimes to come. For the cats, P.S. As you walk outside this week and the cold wind slices the air, please take a minute to think about our nation’s stray and feral cats and the ways that you can help them. You can start today, by making your Emergency Winter Donation now. |
