Mission Statement |
|
We are a small animal rescue group that has a licensed shelter in Lawrenceville, GA. SOHF was incorporated in early 1998 and has 501 (c) 3 status. We accept cats and dogs on a space available basis from other shelters such as Gwinnett County Animal Control, owners who can no longer keep them, and found strays. We foster the animals in our members' homes. All animals are tested and vetted before they are offered for adoption. Potential adopters are carefully screened to ensure a good match of people and pets. We host our adoptions at the Petco on Highway 124 in Snellville and at the PetSmart on the Lawrenceville-Suwanee Highway in Lawrenceville. Please click on the "locations" link on the left to see place and times of adoptions. We gratefully accept donations to help us help the animals. One reason a large number of dogs and cats are killed every day in our animal control shelters is because owners do not spay/neuter their pets. There are not enough good homes for all the unwanted litters of puppies and kittens and the abandoned dogs and cats that are brought to the shelters every day. SOHF runs a Spay/Neuter clinic at Animal Control for shelter animals. Our goaal is to see that all animals are spay/neutered before they leave the shelter. In April 2007 we opened a Spay/Neuter Clinic for the public. If you are interested in information and/or making an appointment call (770) 962-4301. If you wish to make a memorial or honorarium donation in someone's name, we will be happy to send out acknowledgement cards. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. |
